Converting mono to 'stereo' is completely pointless? I'm currently trying to add stereoisation (to coin a neologism, perhaps) i.e. That nice widening effect when you use 100ms to 200ms sample delay on one side, to an ESM track. I was wondering why I couldn't hear any effect, and then I realised it must be be. IZotope RX 6 - stereo to mono. Does anybody know how to turn stereo file into mono file with iZotope RX 6? Is that even possible? All those tools and RX can't even convert to mono. That's actually kind of ridiculous. View entire discussion (7 comments) More posts from the edmproduction community.
Overview
Resample in iZotope's RX 7 audio repair software allows you to convert an audio file from one sampling rate to another with our renowned Sample Rate Conversion (SRC). SRC is a necessary process when converting material from one sampling rate (such as studio-quality 96 kHz or 192 kHz) to another rate (such as 44.1 kHz for CD or 48 kHz for video). RX 7's modules are also compatible as plugins for popular hosts like Audition CC 2017, Cubase 9, Final Cut Pro 10, Live 9, Logic Pro X, Media Composer 8.8, Nuendo 7, Premiere Pro CC 2017, Pro Tools 10-12, and Studio One 3. IZotope's RX 7 includes a number of powerful tools, including advanced Spectral Repair modes which include harmonic selection capabilities. So convert your mix down to 44.1 kHz, but leave the bit-depth at 32 or 24-bit. Finally, load this final 44.1 kHz / 32 or 24-bit master in your host, load Ozone as an effect, and select the desired dithering settings in Ozone's 'Loudness Maximizer' module. Provides specific control over both left and right signal and balance levels. This simple operation can be used to downmix stereo material into mono, invert waveforms, transcode left/right stereo into mid/side, subtract a center channel, and much more.
